Welcome to this week’s archival update! Every week, I spend some time reading and archiving essays and other written works from the alterhuman and nonhuman community.

I file them away at the Alterhuman Archive, but I enjoy the works I read and want to give them more specific shout outs on our blog! Because I can!

As promised, I got more factkin (and factive) pieces added to the archive. Renamed the folder to factfolk

Nylium Network

We were digging through our link hoard and found another alterhuman archive for minecraft related identities! Is it weird for one archive to link to another? I don’t think so. There’s a ton of fanfics with characters with alterhuman identities along with more formal essays and even art:

It would have been obvious, easy even, to quietly snag one of Talon’s enderman pieces from this network to archive. We *did* say last week we wanted to archive more of its pieces!

However!

We have not lost sight of our other goal: to clear out old links from our “to archive” hoard! Thankfully, we did have another piece from Talon already in there.

We’ll be honest - the only thing we know on the topic come from this post and a video by Strange Aeons. But I do think I understand it kind of now. It’s not my thing, but it’s genuinely cool to see someone else so passionate about something that’s so clearly their thing, you know?

 

Time for a blast from the past: Othercon 2021 Conbook
We were digging around our files and found this relic from Othercons past. It’s filled with tips about surviving the con, along with info about that year’s event in general! It is still available in the 2021 discord server, but we felt it’d be good to archive it here for those without access to the server.

Othercon is going on six years now, isn’t that wild? Fun fact, this is the only conbook ever finished – there was also one for 2022 planned, but it was cancelled due to lack of interest/submissions.

For some reason it shows weird for us when we open it on the zotero reader, but totally fine if we download it. idk how to fix that one.

Also, the Alterhuman Archive just surpassed 1,600 uploads!!

New segment! Favorite artwork we reblogged to Alterhuman Art this week.
This isn’t a section for the most realistically drawn piece, or most popular piece - it’s the piece we personally liked the best. Based off vibes and how long thinking of it stuck in our brain.

This week’s winner is: Happy Pride by @/thefangsystem

Why it was chosen

Because it's squad goals. Just look at it! And we're super happy we were able to find it in time to be the first post we made in June. Looking at this artwork gets us fired up to make our own version for pride.

Is it weird for one archive to link to another?

I know this is a rhetorical question, but I recall that Werelibrary indexed other nonhuman directories, so it's definitely not unprecedented to link to other collections!

Also, the Alterhuman Archive just surpassed 1,600 uploads!!

Holy crap, that's a lot more than I expected o_o

That's true! If the archives link to one another, it raises the visibility for all of us -- and helps anyone from getting lost to time.

1,600 isn't a small number, but we feel like we're just scratching the surface with the sheer amount of writing and other content out there. Our link hoard only seems to ever grow lol!
